Housing upstarts down in second half of 2015

Despite a robust showing in the housing market, a recent survey by the Central Bureau of Statistics finds that housing upstarts in the second half of 2015 across Israel were down compared to the last two previous quarters. Of the 47,700 housing units started last year, a 3.9% increase over 2014, only 43,400 starts were completed – which was a decrease of 2.8% from 2014.

Overall, Beit Shemesh ranks #7 in the country for housing upstarts. Jerusalem leads the pack, followed by Tel Aviv, Afulla, Ramat Gan, Petach Tikva, and Ashkelon.
